Air Handler Closet Leak Cleanup in New Athens, OH

What Air Handler Closet Leak Cleanup Includes in New Athens

AC Drain Overflow Team helps with the water loss from air handler closet leak cleanup. A crew in New Athens can document wet areas for a possible insurance claim.

A small enclosed closet can hold damp air against shelves and wallboard. Water can pass under a closed closet door and reach a hall before the source is noticed. AC Drain Overflow Team is a 24/7 call for water removal when the AC has already wet the home.

Switch off the leaking air conditioner when safe. Then get the source checked by HVAC service and call for water removal before the wet area moves behind walls. A drip from the unit may continue through wet insulation after shutdown.

How Air Handler Closet Leak Cleanup Works in New Athens

1. Extract escaped condensate

Water that reached adjacent rooms is removed before drying equipment is set. A moisture map shows where extraction must extend. Extraction reaches wet spots beyond the unit when condensate has moved into a second room.

2. Map the hidden wet area

A wall-mounted unit can leak behind the finish. Readings at several heights help trace how far water moved. Measurements down the wall help distinguish one drip track from a wider damp cavity.

3. Address soaked materials

Water that passed through dirty cavities can require sanitizing. The technician evaluates the affected surfaces during cleanup. When water crossed dirty surfaces, the cleanup plan accounts for those conditions.

4. Dry and check progress

A floor may feel dry while the layer below remains damp. Repeat measurements help prevent an early finish to the dry-out. Floor layers are checked again before finish work begins over the affected area.

What to Do Before the Crew Arrives

Standing water gives porous materials more time to absorb it. Early extraction helps keep the footprint from expanding. A smaller wet footprint usually means fewer materials need attention.

• Turn off cooling if the air handler keeps leaking.
• Keep hands clear of wet equipment controls and power cords.
• Remove dry belongings from the closet only if the floor is safe.
• Do not stack damp boxes against the wall.
• Photograph the closet floor, threshold, and affected items before calling for cleanup.

Cleanup Records for an Insurance Claim

The first visible drip may not mark the full loss. A drying technician maps wet insulation, drywall, and flooring. Those records help explain why the crew worked beyond the stain. An opening above the room may reveal soaked insulation.

• Note when the thermostat was switched off
• Photograph material removal
• Keep an inventory of wet belongings
